I read several Pinterest pins about providing the nurses with something to thank them for their help during labor and delivery. I always believe in thanking people when they do a good job, especially when their job could often involve many long hours and not enough thanks. I put together some goodie bags for our nurses after asking on our hospital tour how many nurses would be assigned to help during delivery. I got some insight from a dear friend of mine who is a labor and delivery nurse herself what she would appreciate receiving.Read More
There is so much information out therefor pregnancy, birth, and postpartum (not to mention child-rearing!). Pinterest and Google were very helpful for me, but here are my favorite reads for this exciting life stage!Read More
Due to our small space at home, we didn't want an overload of things we didn't really need, so I chose the few necessities I felt were important. Now that Judah's here and we're actually using things, I can reflect on many of the items and give you my two cents about 12 things I wouldn't want to live without and some additional notes on things we've used or are waiting to use. I'll update more when we use some of the items he needs to be bigger for! :)Read More
Everyone has a different experience through pregnancy and birth, so these things may or may not help you. But if I had to do it again, (which I'm sure I will someday) these are things that I would make sure to have on hand.Read More
Today is Judah's due date. Our Wellness Center always calls it a "guess date" because it really is a guess since baby can come two weeks before or after. Our little man made his appearance one week early, and I'm so glad he did!Read More
I was blessed to be showered with love three different times! This first one was hosted by my best friend Nicole with a Twinkle Twinkle Little Star theme that was so precious. We had it at Reagan's office and it turned out beautifully. I had a lovely time. Another shower was a surprise one from my coworkers and turned out to be similarly themed to this one! And then the final one was a co-ed shower hosted by our lovely friends from church with a Mexican Fiesta! Delicious food and a fun hang out with our friends. :)
Here's some pictures from my first shower taken by my studly husband. <3Read More
I literally cannot believe I am already in 3rd trimester! Someone asked me last night if I felt like my pregnancy was dragging--no way! It's surreal that we're in the final stretch though the signs are definitely there. Our schedules seem to get more and more packed as we try to get things done before baby comes. I have doctor appointments every 2 weeks now instead of every 4. We started hypnobirthing class this month. "Nesting" has been in full swing with rearranging the house and sorting hand-me-down baby clothes. Baby shower invitations are sent out. And babymoon is officially complete! It's a busy season, that's for sure.Read More
We can't believe I'm already halfway done with my pregnancy! It doesn't feel like it's been that long already. I am finally feeling better physically even though I didn't have morning sickness. The past few weeks I haven't had anxiety at night like I had the past month or so. My belly is getting rounder, and I can feel my round ligaments stretching (which is painful!). I have thankfully found some oils to help.Read More
Here I am in my 18th week of pregnancy, and I've come to discover there are things that no one tells you about pregnancy--things that freak you out, but are actually quite normal, things that are inconvenient but you wouldn't have thought about, and things that took me by surprise.Read More
I was a little bummed that I had to leave work early to drive to Del Mar just for an ultrasound, but it ended up being so great. We spent about 30 minutes looking at my little one from all angles. I got to see the little heart, brain, bladder, and....wait for it.....penis! It's a boy!! I was really surprised to find that out so soon--thought we'd have to wait another 4 weeks or so. But he wasn't shy from either angle we checked. But don't just take my word for it, see for yourself!Read More
I've never been able to make much sense of ultrasound pictures in the past. Even our 7 week one just looked like a little blob. But when Baby appeared on the screen, he/she gave a little jump which was hilarious, and then posed for us perfectly. Head, Hand, Foot. Bam! Baby Helms giving us the perfect profile. #winningRead More
I've always been a bit on the emotional side. I think it was a little more dramatic through junior high and high school. And stress definitely triggers my emotions. Add in pregnancy to the mix? Dear Lord, is there a purpose to these pregnancy tears?!?!Read More
"Always remember, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and twice as beautiful as you'd ever imagine."
That's the quote that greeted me on the wall of the office of my chosen OB/GYN. I don't know why but it filled me with confidence and settled the nerves of my first appointment. The questions of "Is my baby healthy?" "Is he/she growing like he/she should?" "Is it going to hurt?" were stilled.Read More
It was Thursday, October 8th that I got home and took a pregnancy test. And then another one. And then went to the store for different kind. There it was, that digital screen blinking at me "PREGNANT." My head felt very light. I'm having a baby! Reagan was coming home that night after a change in his plans, but he took a lot longer than usual to get here. It was the longest 3 hours of my life waiting for him. I cooked dinner. I wrapped a gift for him to share the news. I waited. And waited. And waited. We enjoyed dinner together--me painfully aware that the gift was sitting right next to his plate, and he had yet to say anything! My hands were shaking all through dinner; it was so hard to eat normally with my phone cleverly hidden and propped up against a table plant to record when it was time.Read More
I asked my stylist to send me tops and dresses that I could wear through a "So Cal winter." Meredith did not disappoint!Read More
As some of you heard, Reagan’s grandma passed away on Wednesday. We’re glad she’s in peace in heaven getting to be with Jesus, and her son Tim who died a few years ago, and see the many people she brought to Christ when she was doing missions work in Japan. I know that she is being celebrated in heaven right now and joining in with the many who were waiting for her.Read More
Here's my box items for you to adore and swoon over! :) It was a lot easier to pose in front of a mirror instead of running back and forth to check the camera on a tripod, so please excuse the Teacher Stash behind me that is currently residing in our music room/library! lol #summervacation #teacherlifeRead More
I love to paint my nails. It's therapy for me--a time I get to be creative and try new designs. They may not always look perfect, but they're fun and many people are amazed that I did it myself. So when Jamberry first started coming out and I was getting invited to parties, I wasn't really interested.
But as the busyness of life overtook me, and I began to have less and less time to sit down and paint something creative on my nails, I became a little more open to the idea.
I was genuinely surprised and delighted by how much I was a fan. Jamberry Nails have some major pros.Read More
*Happy Sigh. Such beautiful words. Peace. Rest. What comes to mind when you hear those? Is it a morning walk on the beach, listening to the rise and fall of the waves on the sand? Is it that Italian vacation you took last year, aimlessly wandering the city and feasting on fresh tomatoes and mozzarella? Is it the moment that you have packed up the kids and sent them off to Grandma's house for the day and you breathe a sigh at the noiseless surroundings of your home?Read More
