StitchFix Review #3

Stitch Fix Review

A few months ago, I found out about Stitch Fix--a company that uses your style profile that you fill out (and your Pinterest style boards if you include them!) to personally pick out 5 clothing/accessory items for you and mail to your house. You get three days after receiving the box to try on the items with things you already have at home, decide if you want to keep any of them, pay for what you want, and send the rest back! It's quick, it's convenient, and you get cute clothes to try on! In the box, they send you a note from your stylist with suggestions and a picture card of each piece of clothing styled 2 different ways to give you some ideas. There is a $20 styling fee to get a box sent to you, but you can use that $20 toward purchasing an item in your box. If you decide to keep everything in the box, you get a 25% discount! Another perk is that you get a personalized referral link, and if your friends use it to buy their first box, you get $25 credit to your account! Sweet! If you missed out on my post about my first box, click here or to see my second box, click here!

This month, I told Heather, my awesome stylist, to send me a light-wash jean jacket, some mid-thigh length shorts, and a top I could wear with my tulle skirt that I made for my birthday.

Now, because I'm an honest person, I have to share with you a major mishap that happened with this box. :(

I ordered the box to arrive for my last week of teaching--hoping that I could wear something from it for those last special days. I got my box on the last Monday of school after a long field trip at a waterpark in the hot sun. I was excited, but too tired to open it. The next morning, I opened my box, read my letter from Heather and saw all the cute items on the style card! I was so excited! But when I took out the clothing items, I saw different clothes than were on the style card. :-0

I emailed customer support, and they were very quick to respond, saying they would send me out another one next week and to just return the other items in the return bag and my styling fee that I already paid would be reapplied to the new box. I was a little disappointed they didn't offer to send it right away because I had specifically wanted it for that week. I asked if I could have a different dress than the one that was in there because it was a little out of my price range for dresses, and I didn't want that to be the only reason I didn't buy the whole box and get my 25% off discount.

They again responded very quickly and said that wouldn't be a problem and that I'd be getting a newly styled box with new items, just as if it had been a separate order. The support agent also said she would put a note on my account not to have dresses more than a certain amount in my box. I was a little surprised and bummed I was getting a different box entirely! I had been super excited about the items Heather picked for me. She knows my style so well, and I really loved the items that were supposed to be in there. Now I wasn't going to be sent any of them. :(

When I finally did get my new box, it did have some cute things in it. It wasn't quite as exciting as my missing box, and I had Kate as my stylist instead of Heather, who hasn't worked with me as long to know my style really well. Despite this, I was still able to get some pieces that I liked and could wear to a variety of places.

That's the back story, crazy huh? Now, here's my replacement box items for you to adore and swoon over! :) It was a lot easier to pose in front of a mirror instead of running back and forth to check the camera on a tripod, so please excuse the Teacher Stash behind me that is currently residing in our music room/library! lol #summervacation #teacherlife

NUMBER 1:

1. Pixley Kathy Striped Fit & Flare Dress - $68 (couldn't find online)

I didn't love this dress when I looked at it in the box. But when I put it on....oh my word! LOVED the fit, and it looked so feminine and modest at the same time. I loved the three quarter sleeves, and the minor puff at the shoulders. It has the cutest V cut on the back too. Hubby says it's sexy when I show off my shoulders. Haha.

2. Kit From the Kloth Haiden Distressed Straight Leg Jean - $88 (similar items $89 at Nordstrom)

I liked the length of these. Ankle jeans are in right now, and I don't have any. The fit was a little off though. The jeans were a bit baggy and the distressed part didn't quite fall on my knees, so it looked a little misplaced.

3. Pixley Dafanie Short - $44 (couldn't find online)

I can't believe I actually posted a picture of myself in these horrible shorts! Bold patterned, flowy shorts are definitely not my thing. I can think of a few people that could totally rock these. But totally not me. They were also very confining at the waist--tight, thick elastic. And the fabric bunched up unevenly over the waistband too.

4. Market & Spruce Jillian Crochet Detail Tank - $48 (couldn't find online)

I liked the detail and the fit of this one. Flowy shirts are great when you don't want to show the extra pounds you've gained from all the chocolate gifts your students give you! *ahem. It's also a great look for Southern California weather.

Number 5:

5. Daniel Rainn Minal V-Neck 3/4 Sleeve Solid Blouse - $68 ($68 at Shop Style)

Kate sent me this top to go with my tulle skirt. I have to say, I didn't care for that pairing. But I did enjoy it with skinny jeans. It's nice and flowy, and the stud buttons are a cool, different feature.

Stitch Fix Review #3

To sum it up, I bought 3/5 items, and half of it was covered with $25 credit I had from someone purchasing through my link and with a birthday gift certificate from my parents. Yay! I love the things I get with Stitch Fix; they send me items you can't find in other places, and they're pieces that are good quality and will last a long time.

What about you? Want to give it a try? :) Use my referral link and order your first box; let me know how it goes!
