I feel like this night is one of the last free moments I'm going to have for a while. Technically this moment isn't even free. I have a to do list the size of a semi. But I'm stealing this moment to give you an update and a good ramble to let everything out of my brain. Teaching This week has been classroom transformation week. I've been at school from 9am to 4pm every day (except today I left early to go see The Help, which was excellent and I highly recommend). I did a lot of cleaning, pushing furniture around, sorting through boxes and drawers full of stuff leftover from previous teachers, and finally yesterday started getting stuff up on the walls. It's starting to look like a real classroom! Next week will be lesson planning and prepping materials after in-service meetings. I can't believe I have my own classroom. It's all coming together, but it's also going by very quickly. I don't think I would be finished with everything if I hadn't had the help of my wonderful mother and two dear friends, Nicole and Mary Ann.
Still lots to do. Tonight I need to write on name plates and birthday cupcakes to put up on the wall, as well as type and print some things for my bulletin boards. My computer isn't hooked up at school yet, and I'm not sure if I have a printer. Hmmm.
Ramblings I feel like I have so many errands to run and stores to go to all the freakin' time. I have to keep a constant list next to me and add to it at all hours of the day. I never have time to go though.
I'm attending a seminar in Palm Desert on Saturday. I have to leave at 5:45am. Can you say "grumpy pants?" I'm bringing my pillow to sleep in the car. Ha. I don't care what my colleagues think of me. I need my sleep if I'm going to get better!
Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches are my new best friend. Love them.
My bedroom is usually my safe haven where I find peace amidst the stresses of life. But I haven't had any time to clean this week with all this classroom set-up happening, and now my room puts me on edge in its chaotic-ness.
I keep getting catalogs in my mailbox at school. When I'm supposed to have time to look through them and if I'm ever going to need them, I have no idea.
I love bulletin board borders. They're my favorite.
I need to transport my frogs to school, but I'm dreading all the work it will take to get them there. Lol. They've made it through the summer though and have just recently become very active little guys. They'll make good class pets I think. :)
There are ideas that I read and things in my head that I can't fully remember where I saw them or which teaching book they were in. I have no solution for this frustration.
Conclusion I have too much to do to be sitting here rambling. I don't know when the next moment I will have to spare will be. So hopefully this will hold you for a while. ;)
